The County Treasurer is the custodian of county revenues and maintains records and reports on both revenues and expenditures. It is the County Treasurer’s responsibility to ensure that monies are separated into the correct funds accounts. Some money held by the treasurer may be invested for the profit of the county. Financial books are kept for the various funds and must balance.
The County Treasurer is the custodian of all monies collected for the various taxing entities within the county (schools, fire districts, roads, etc.) and is responsible for the proper disbursement of those funds. Monthly, semi-annual and annual settlements are compiled and presented to the County Clerk and County Commission for review and inspection.
